We support projects that enhance school life

The Community Fund leverages funds raised by the Parents' Association to support projects and events that enhance the learning environment, student health and wellness, and the overall education experience.

What are the program objectives?

The Community Fund leverages funds raised by the Parents' Association to support projects and events that enhance the learning environment, student health and wellness, and the overall education experience.

The Fund is open to school management, teachers and staff, parents, and students. Teachers and staff should submit their requests to school management, who will collect and forward them directly to the PA board.

The online form is for parent and student requests only. Projects must benefit a broad group of students — such as a full Primary or Secondary cycle, a year group, or a language section — and promote inclusion, learning, personal development, and community spirit. Projects limited to a single class or small group are generally not considered unless there are exceptional circumstances. Funded projects must be non-profit in nature.

The committee will then evaluate the requests, and the final decision will be made by vote and communicated back to school management.

In the past, the Parents' Association has supported projects from the community fund: table tennis tables/bats/balls, t-shirts and materials for competitions of student teams with other schools, sound system in school theater, school activities such as bicycle test, benches in the playground, parties & graduation ceremonies, hot chocolate, the secondary sports morning.
Please note that although PA has financially supported field trips in the past, this is no longer the case, as parents should pay for field trips. PA will, however, provide financial support for families in need who struggle to pay for a school trip. For full details on eligibility, criteria, and what the Fund can and cannot support, please see the Community Fund Guidelines.

  1. All Requests for Funds that meet the Fund objectives will be voted on by the Parents' Association Committee. A majority vote is required for funding approval.
  2. Financing of the ESB Parents' Association Fund is contingent upon financial reserves.
  3. Requests for funding events or activities that have occurred in the past will not be considered.
  4. Invoices must be addressed to the European School Bergen Parents' Association and submitted in a timely manner. The PA will pay suppliers directly, or reimburse approved applicants upon receipt of a valid invoice. Late invoices may not be reimbursed. Payments will only be made up to the approved funding amount; any additional costs must receive prior approval and will not be automatically covered.
  5. Upon completion of the project, a short written report (or student survey) and confirmation that the project was implemented as approved must be provided to the PA.

According to the PA statutes, the projects that the PA Community Fund has supported throughout the school year will be presented in the financial overview given at the PA Annual General Meeting in the first quarter of the school year. The PA Accounts will be audited by two non-members of the PA Committee.
