Dear Parents,
Well, we had a good run before being locked down: we’d made it past Hallowe’en, through St Maarten’s Day, we had seen off Sinterklaas and nearly reached Santa. But here we are, dusting off our distance learning hats and preparing for a life without the high street once again. I blame the Elf on the shelf…
- Thank you to those of you that joined us for our Annual General Meeting last month. Here are some of the highlights for those that were unable to attend:
- We have taken this year’s Food Bank drive online! Right now we are up to over €1,900 raised: this is simply incredible, thank you all so much. The donation page is still open today (Friday 18th December) so, if you haven’t already done so, please click the “Donate” button to help: https://europeanschool-parents.nl/support-the-food-bank-alkmaar/.
- There is no further update on the traffic flow around the school, including no further information about the pedestrian crossing that the Gemeente assured us would be installed on Churchilllaan. You may have seen the three different locations around the school that are now manned by the Traffic department representatives, resplendent in their day-glo clothing. I have so far found them to be amicable so, should you have any queries or concerns, please don’t think them unapproachable.
- During the Parents’ Association Committee’s most recent meeting we decided that Extra Curricular Activities will not be arranged for the coming Winter/Spring Term. It is still conceivable that the Spring/Summer term may be treated differently but we will have to wait and see how things transpire over the coming months.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas & a happy and healthy 2021,
ESB Parents’ Association President
