Volunteer Opportunities

The Parents’ Association is looking for volunteers for its board, active members to lead key initiatives, and help during our events. If you’d like to help, please complete the form below and let us know which of the following opportunities you are interested in.

President

  • Provides overall board leadership and high-level coordination and allocation of PA activities
  • Sets agenda and chairs monthly and special meetings
  • Responsible for compliance to statutes and governing law
  • Represents the Parents’ Association with the other members of the PA Executive Committee for School Administration relations/functions including but not limited to School Advisory Council (SAC), School Admin Board, and Risk Committee
  • Acts as legal external point of contact for ESB PA (authorizes and signs contracts with the external parties on behalf of PA)
  • Main point of contact for parents
  • Regularly maintains contact with school management
  • Provides overall financial controls (approves monthly and annual financial statements, expense reports, budgets prepared and presented by Treasurer)

Vice President

  • Approximately 15 hours per week
  • Liaison with school administration
  • Chooses 1-2 additional initiatives to lead

Secretary

  • Approximately 15 hours per week
  • Records and distributes all board meeting minutes

Treasurer

  • Approximately 10 hours per week
  • Manages all finances, pays all expenses and ensures finances are transparent and reported

Membership

  • Approximately 2-5 hours per week
  • Develop ongoing strategy for recruiting new members
  • Report status of membership
  • Provide customer service to members
  • Work with other groups to establish and administer member benefits

Online Shop

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week
  • Manage, pack and deliver orders weekly
  • Restock inventory as needed
  • Provide reporting on performance of online store

Community Fund

  • Approximately 1 hour per week
  • Liaison between board and requestor
  • Review Community Fund requests & present to board for approval

New Parent Welcome Committee*

  • Approximately 1-5 hours per month, varying month-to- month
  • Monitor new parent email address and answer inquiries for help from new parents
  • Coordinate new parent requests and identify sponsor families
  • Work with school administration and board to develop initiatives welcoming new families

Educational Liaison*

  • Approximately 5-8 hours per month
  • Represents parents as a pedagogical specialist working with the school and Interparents
  • Participates in school inspections and consults on educational improvements
  • Communicates parental pedagogical concerns to the school administration

Interparents*

  • Approximately 20 hours per month
  • Coordinates with ES Interparents
  • Act as educational advocate with the school and Interparents
  • Includes travel to European Schools within the EU 4 times per year

Canteen Tender Process

  • Approximately 2 hours per week
  • Coordinate & administer tender process

Amsterdam Parents Point of Contact*

  • Approximately 5 hours per month
  • Amsterdam parent who is the liaison between board and Amsterdam parents
  • Attend 1 Amsterdam parents’ meeting per month
  • Attend 1 PA board meeting per month

Host Families*

  • Less than 1 hour per month
  • Liaison between school and Host Family applicants
  • Promote needs to parents and recruit host families
