ESB Chess Team 10th in NL!

ESB Chess Team 10th in NL!

ESB Chess Team top 10 in The Netherlands!

Last week 13 students from Primary and S1 represented ESB in the qualifying rounds of the “Dutch Primary School Christmas Chess Cup”. Approximately 100 schools in total entered the competition.  The ESB Team came 4th in the qualifying round, narrowly missing out on 3rd place. However they were given a “Wild Card” place in the finals yesterday.
The team came 10th overall, making ESB the 10th best chess school in the Netherlands! That’s a great achievement, especially as there hasn’t been the opportunity for much training this year. A huge thank you to Jasper Dekker, the PA Extra Curricular Activity chess instructor, for his commitment to the children and for organising the ESB entry.
Well done to all those who participated!

ESB PA Event Update

ESB PA Event Update

[:en]The Parents’ Association supported the nursery & primary event on 15th December by providing warm festive refreshments and cookies in the P3,4,5 playground after the sing-a-long. All primary & nursery families were welcome.

The event was received well by pupils, parents and teachers alike. The combination of the sing-a-long and the refreshments proved highly successful and there was a real feeling of togetherness and of festive cheer.

The secondary students’ council organised the secondary Live Aid event on 16th December in the AULA another memorable event to mark the end of term in secondary.

Further to our earlier communications here is a brief summary of some of the key events planned by the Parents’ Association for 2017:

  • w/c 9th January – Bicycle Checks – all pupils
w/c
  • 16th January – Road Awareness Campaign – all parents & pupils
  • 7-16th February – Logo Competition Entries Exhibition – from Secondary down to Nursery 17th February – Carnival – Primary
  • 7th May – Euromart – all

In addition to the above we are proactive in partnering and supporting many other events, for example Battle of the Bands, Alkmaar Food Bank with Act2Aid.
For the latest updates to our event calendar, log on to our website. And don’t forget we are always open to suggestions and invite you to share any ideas or suggestions that you have.
We really enjoyed sharing the festive moment with some of you on 15th and thank you for your participation. We look forward to representing you in 2017.
