Alkmaar Publishes its Proposed Future European School Location

ESB parents were invited by Gemeente Alkmaar to learn more about its proposed location for the future of our school. They launched a website with information on their proposal as well as invited parents to subscribe to receive future information from them.

They’ve also sent the school and the Parents’ Association a document outlining more information on their proposed location, it’s surroundings and their proposed “Junior Advisory Council” inviting members of the school community to help shape how the school will come to fruition. They also mention an upcoming meeting to which subscribers will be invited to attend in the near future. We will of course keep you updated as more details on this and additional proposals are brought to our attention.

So where are we now? What does this mean?
Firstly, it’s important to note that as of today, there have been no decisions made regarding the future location of the school. We are still waiting for the process to begin, and we understand that the Ministry of Education will contact the municipalities in March. From recent meetings it is clear that it will take some time for the process to come to a conclusion. Any wishes about the future location will be discussed at a local level in the autumn at the very earliest, and hopefully a decision will be made about the location before the end of 2020. Gemeente Alkmaar has simply published their proposal and invited all from the school community to join them in discussing it.
